The Santa Marina Retreat incorporates the largest private stud farm and racing stables in Cyprus with race horses that regularly compete at the Nicosia race course and many have the prefix Elias to their name. There are many mares and their foals to watch at close range too as they feed or play in the paddocks. There is the chance to rest awhile and feed our beautiful Japanese Koi Carp fish at the Proteas Fish Feeding Point by Lake Mangelini (which is a natural lake as the area was once a copper mine) and to visit the pretty little chapel of Santa Marina which is over 500 years old and was built by the Venetians. The chapel commands a spectacular view over the countryside and inside, visitors can learn about some of the traditions of the Greek Orthodox church.

The Olympos Challenge... Climbing is a sport for people of all athletic and fitness levels. It challenges the mind as well as the body in a testing self-paced environment. It is a sport that is popular with for men and women of all ages. In 2012 London Olympics climbing will feature for the first time as an Olympic sport. The Olympos Challenge climbing wall at Santa Marina Retreat has been built by experts to international standards and is the largest and most advanced of its kind in Cyprus....there are 20,30 and 40 dregree inclines with overhangs. As well as top roping here is the chance to enjoy bouldering - free climbing.

Introducing the Odysseus Challenge...target Archery... Archery is on offer at Santa Marina with facilities catering for all levels of experience and equipment is available for hire at Reception If you would like to have a go we have targets and a 100 metre practice field with tuition also available for beginners. Enthusiasts of archery can practise with targets in the 100m practice field. In 1999 the European Archery Grand Prix was held at the Santa Marina Retreat and the management received a letter of excellence from the Swiss European Federation Organising Commitee. The range is 250m long allowing for players to use their drivers, the balls used are two piece and a quality range of balls ( by the bucket!) and clubs are available to hire. For comfort, the bays are protected from the sun. Bunker practice is also available and now for the big news.... There is a new putting green for practising the most important shots of all! Because of the climate in Cyprus, the putting green is artificial, made from one of the best artificial grass there is... Horse Riding at the largest private stud farm... There are 250+ horses on the farm which is incorporated in the Santa Marina Retreat and there are stallions, brood mares, foals, riding horses, show jumpers and of course our riding school horses! The Retreat has its own practice race course where the racehorses can be watched as they train early morning and late afternoon during the week. A horse pool, horse walkers, lunging ring and exercise track are some of the facilities available for daily training. Guests have the opportunity to ride through traditional Cypriot villages, mountainous areas and through unspoilt countryside with qualified escorts on our Kentavros Ride - the minimum age for this is eight years and the Kentavros Rides are available in 30 minute, one hour and two hour durations.
